New Delhi:

A seminar and art workshop, named ‘Swavalamban’ on “Social Entrepreneurship of Arts and Crafts with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in India and Indonesia” was organized at Jawaharlal Nehru University on Tuesday. The programme was organised under the joint aegis of Centre for Chinese and South-Asian Studies, SLL&CS, JNU, Embassy of Indonesia, ICSSR, Northern Regional Centre, New Delhi; Centre for Studies of Tradition of Systems and Mithila Angel Network.

The Indonesian delegation, Ms. Catharina Dwihastarini, Ms. Adinindiya Lawe and Ms. Fitriya Werdiningsih made impressive presentation about the various progressive works taking place in the field of art and culture in Indonesia. While sharing the outline and need of the program, Mr. Arvind Jha, Mithila Angel Network said that it is very important to exchange knowledge, information and business between the two countries covering all the subjects of art and culture as well as their promotion. He also said that the Indian perspective on economy and the way digitalization has been promoted in India should also be taken into consideration. Indonesia and India have to create new dimensions of development by understanding their demographic potential.

 The inauguration of the seminar took place formally with the lighting of the lamp in the presence of students, guests and the Indonesian delegation. Indonesia’s Ambassador to India, Honourable Her Excellency Ms. Ina H. Krishnamurthi encouraged everyone through her video message to strengthen the cultural relation of two millennia between two nations and branch out into fresh avenues of bilateral interaction.  The event moved towards the Committee Hall of JNU where the national anthems of India and Indonesia were sung and the program continued with the recitation of Vedas. After the welcome address by Professor Gautam Jha, Ms. C. Dwihastirini, Ms. Adinindiya and Ms. Fitriya from the Indonesian delegation along with national awardee in Mithila Painting, Mrs. Bharti Dayal, Mrs. Seema Singh, founder of Mithila Angel Network, Mr. Arvind Jha, Professor Aditi Narayani Paswan, Dr. Sanjay Kumar and Mr. Vivek Abhinav was honoured with bouquets, Mithila painted Angavastram, and Mithila-Makhana.

The discussion started under the chairmanship of Dr. Sanjay Kumar, in which various aspects of art, culture, education, skill development, women empowerment was discussed by Professor Aditi Narayani Paswan and Mr. Vivek Abhinav. Also, a workshop was conducted for the students by Mrs. Seema Singh. The second phase of the discussion started under the chairmanship of Professor Rajiv Sijariya, in which Professor Arvind Kumar, Professor Gautam Jha and Mrs. Bharti Dayal presented in this phase, topics like art-culture, shared heritage of India-Indonesia on art, craft and social entrepreneurship at the global level were the centre of discussion. The valedictory speech of Dean Professor Kaushal Kumar Sharma enlightened the people. The session successfully concluded with vote of thanks by Professor Savita and Professor Gautam Jha.
