Resolution to Pass on the Values of Restraint and Sattvik Living to the New Generation through Jain Meal Day

One Plate of Restraint – One Pledge for Society

New Delhi:

With the aim of reinstating the Jain principles of Ahimsa (non-violence), restraint, and sattvik (pure) living in society, internationally renowned vastu expert, life coach, aura reader, astrologer, and social worker Manoj Jain has resolved to observe Jain Meal Day every year. On this special day, the entire Jain community is urged to come together—families, organizations, temples, trusts, and youth groups—to partake in pure sattvik Jain meals, free from onion and garlic.

According to Manoj Jain, the objective of this day is to promote awareness about mindful eating and instill good values. It also aims to highlight the importance of sattvik living among children and youth. He further stated that by adopting Jain values in practical life, people can naturally resolve many of their problems, while also strengthening unity and religious harmony.

Jain suggests that Jain Meal Day be celebrated annually on Mahavir Jayanti, which marks the birth of Lord Mahavir—a symbol of restraint and dietary discipline. On this day, community-wide Jain feasts can be organized in temples, along with workshops on sattvik diets for children and youth. A social media campaign titled One Plate of Restraint will also be launched.

Manoj Jain believes that for the future generation, we can leave behind a new tradition and a stronger culture. “This is both our duty and our privilege,” he says. The slogan One Plate of Restraint – One Pledge for Society should reach every citizen. This initiative will not only strengthen the message of sattvik living and restraint within the Jain community but will also serve as an inspiring example of food consciousness in Indian culture.

Highlighting the growing issues of poor health, mental stress, and imbalanced lifestyles among today’s youth, Jain explained that a sattvik and balanced diet not only improves physical well-being but also brings mental peace. Jain Meal Day can serve as a medium to spread this awareness. One Plate of Restraint is not just about food—it is a pledge to embrace compassion, environmental conservation, and self-discipline in life. It reminds society that food is not merely to fill the stomach but also shapes our thoughts and actions.

It is essential that such initiatives are not confined to religious or cultural boundaries, but are embraced as a health- and environment-friendly lifestyle choice. If every family resolves to have sattvik meals even one day a week, it can bring positive changes not just to individual health but to society as a whole.
